U.S. House rejects temporary spy law extension
By a vote of 191-229, the House rejected the temporaryextension that Bush threatened to veto. The president backs abill passed by the Senate on Tuesday that would shieldtelecommunication companies from potentially billions ofdollars in civil damages and expand the government's powers totrack suspected terrorists.
