Wall Street slips on commodities, data caps losses

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street opened lower on Thursday as falling commodities prices prompted an unwinding of bets on risky assets, including equities, while a sour outlook from Cisco hurt technology stocks.

The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 39.73 points, or 0.31 percent, to 12,590.30. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 4.49 points, or 0.33 percent, to 1,337.59. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 14.15 points, or 0.50 percent, to 2,830.91.
