Wall St up on China data, bank rules



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks advanced to their highest levels in five weeks on Monday, taking the S&P 500 near the top of its summer range, on upbeat Chinese factory data and new global banking rules.

    The Dow Jones industrial average gained 81.43 points, or 0.78 percent, to close unofficially at 10,544.20. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 12.36 points, or 1.11 percent, to end unofficially at 1,121.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 43.23 points, or 1.93 percent, to finish unofficially at 2,285.71.
