Wall Street opens up on Apple, bank earnings


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks rose on Wednesday as solid earnings from technology giant Apple as well as financials Morgan Stanley and Wells Fargo tempered growth worries.

    * Banks led the way up on the S&P 500, with the financial sector gaining more than 1 percent. APPLE (AAPL.NQ)was the biggest boost on the Nasdaq, jumping 4.5 percent.

    * The Dow Jones industrial average added 24.68 points, or 0.24 percent, to 10,254.64. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 4.49 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,087.97. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 9.38 points, or 0.42 percent, to 2,231.87.
