Wall St rises on oil; financials slip


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks managed modest gains on Thursday as rising oil prices underpinned energy shares, but financials retreated as investors panned earnings from Goldman Sachs and Citigroup.

    * The Dow Jones industrial average gained 46.56 points, or 0.46 percent, to 10,062.42. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index climbed 4.45 points, or 0.41 percent, to 1,096.47. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 1.06 points, or 0.05 percent, to 2,173.29.
