Nasdaq, Dow turn up before key data


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Nasdaq and the Dow Jones industrials indexes briefly turned positive on Tuesday, while the benchmark S&P 500 pared losses, ahead of a report on consumer confidence that investors will scrutinize for further evidence of an economic rebound.

    The Dow Jones industrial average rose 2.87 points, or 0.03 percent, to 9,111.38. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index dipped 0.47 points, or 0.05 percent, to 981.71. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 1.90 points, or 0.10 percent, to 1,969.79. (Reporting by Ellis Mnyandu; Editing by Padraic Cassidy)
