PIGS back in the spotlight for investors
Spain and Italy, two out of four of the countries affectionately known as the PIGS, are awakening investor interest again. As money flows back into the European stock markets, the top six traded stock are from Spain and Italy.
The companies are BBVA, Santander, Unicredit, Eni, Telefónica and Intesa. The rate of stock purchases suggests that investors think that Spain and Italy are less risky than before, that our companies are once again strong.
The Ibex and Italy?s FTSE posted major gains during the past three months. Excess liquidity in the Unitd States has flowed to Europe. Investors are thirsting to buy assets in Spain and Italy, because there than can reap significant gains by investing in companies that are bouncing back after a long economic crisis.
