IMF asks EU for more cohesion

The IMF implored euro zone countries to work with each other on their national budgets in order to minimize the effects of future economic crises.

The international organization led by Christine Lagarde several proposals ranging from an anticrisis fund to a fund that helps to combat the negative effects of unemployment and people cashing in euro bonds. These proposals would work best in the future, although the IMF does realize that a centralized fund that backs European banks is an immediate need.

Lagarde is asking Europe to practice fiscal unity rather than just talking about it. This challenge will involve multiple hurdles, and given Merkel's recent victory in Germany, they won't be cleared any time soon.
