Montoro scorns a defiant González

A full day after the Council on Fiscal and Financial Policy, regional government leaders are not indifferent about the outcome.

Madrid leader Ignacio González, who is faithful to the national government but extremely critical of Finance Minister Montoro not only for flouting a budget stability law that he himself promoted a year ago, but also for the harm that has been caused by his full opposition to an agreement that would allow unequal fiscal deficits among the regions.

Montoro responded by pressuring Madrid's president to reinstate an inheritance tax that was abolished in 2008. This proposal is not going to fly among a population that is being beaten black and blue with taxes put in place by Montoro, who as a Finance Minister is both insatiable and unjust.
