Linde bets on smooth leadership transition

On Friday the Bank of Spain will appoint Ramón Quintana as its leader. Quintana is the current head of the supervisory department. The nomination will allow the Bank of Spain to transition leadership smoothly; Quintana has been Jerónimo Martínez Tello's right-hand man for years.

While Tello was at the helm, the Bank of Spain suffered its greatest reputation loss in recent history. Although the Quintana's work was never called into question (even the IMF praised the quality of his job), inspectors are complaining that the conclusions outlined in their reports were ignored or conveniently pushed under the rug. Linde has already tested Quintana's ability to stand on his own, and now we just have to wait to see if the gamble on a smooth leadership transition will pay off.
