Pressure from Unesco and elEconomista fells Cajasol tower

Adiós to the Cajasol tower, which was an megalomaniacal and irrational idea conceived of by Antonio Pulido. Despite the struggling savings bank's difficulties, Cajasol's president had no qualms about squandering 300 million on a skyscraper that would destroy the flow of the Seville skyline and could have compromised several urban attractions: Giralda, the Archivo de Indias and the cathedral.

By virtue of Unesco's decision, the Sevillian municipal government is asking for the tower project to be terminated and will take proper precautionary steps should Pulido challenge their petition. Effectively, the tower project has been knocked down due to the bank's poor management.

It would not be excessive if Madrid major Ana Botella takes not of the way Seville's town council has acted as she considers Gallardón's plan to urbanize the green zone next to Bernabéu Stadium.
