Op-Ed: The PP should outline its plan
Old critiques should be tossed aside, because the battery of insults that the opposing party has cast toward the government's mismanagement of the Spanish economy is not productive, even if not untrue. The PP's leaders are firing excessive reproaches at a time when it's more appropriate to look ahead and spell out concrete proposals facing the November 20 elections, initiatives, and other issues.
Problems have been identified, so we need to work on solutions and write the fine print. Not doing so is create confusion and opacity, something that Zapatero's government is quite familiar with. It is clear that Spain needs major overhauls of many sectors (labor, energy, finance, etc.), so it is critical that the PP quit invoking past harms and, instead, put forth positive ideas that anticipate what they will do when in office.
