DaVita to buy Healthcare Partners for about $4.4 billion

(Reuters) - DaVita Inc , the biggest U.S. operator of dialysis clinics, said it agreed to acquire HealthCare Partners for about $4.42 billion in a cash and stock deal.

The purchase price consists of $3.66 billion in cash and about 9.38 million shares of DaVita common stock, the statement said.

DaVita said it expects to fund the cash portion of the purchase price through a combination of available cash, additional borrowings and debt financing, the company said.
