Wall Street climb as banks, semis gain



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks climbed on Wednesday, boosted by a bounce in financial shares, while semiconductor stocks gained after Applied Materials said it would at least break even this quarter.

    The Dow Jones industrial average gained 96.58 points, or 1.05 percent, to 9,338.03. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 10.23 points, or 1.03 percent, to 1,004.58. The Nasdaq Composite Index climbed 27.40 points, or 1.39 percent, to 1,997.13.
