Trump blasts Scotland's 'small-minded mentality' after court blow
The Trump Organisation was reacting after Britain's Supreme Court unanimously threw out his bid to stop an offshore wind farm being built near his luxury Scottish golf resort.
"History will judge those involved unfavourably and the outcome demonstrates the foolish, small minded and parochial mentality which dominates the current Scottish Government?s dangerous experiment with wind energy," a statement on behalf of the organisation said.
Scotland's government had given the go-ahead to build 11 turbines off the northeastern coast, provoking anger from Trump who believes they will spoil the view from the nearby greens of his multi-million dollar golf complex.
Lawyers for Trump, whose call last week to deny Muslims entry to the United States provoked widespread criticism in Britain, had argued at the UK's top court that the Scottish government's decision to approve the scheme was flawed.
Trump, who speaks proudly of being half-Scottish and whose Gaelic-speaking mother hailed from Stornoway on the northern Isle of Lewis, has already lost a series of battles in Britain's lower courts and his last chance to block the plans rested with the Supreme Court, the country's highest judicial body.
"We will evaluate the Court?s decision and continue to fight this proposal on every possible front," the statement said.
