Dow edges down after changes; Nasdaq up


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow industrials opened down on Monday as changes to average weighed on some shares, including Altria Group Inc , while the Nasdaq index rose on deal news that boosted technology stocks.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was down 29.50 points, or 0.24 percent, at 12,152.63. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 1.38 points, or 0.10 percent, at 1,329.91. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 4.00 points, or 0.17 percent, at 2,308.85.
