Prudential posts lower fourth quarter net


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Prudential Financial Inc , one of the largest U.S. life insurers, said on Wednesday that net income fell 11 percent in the fourth quarter.

    Net income was $792 million or $1.75 a share, down from $893 million or $1.88 a share in the year earlier quarter.

    The company said it expects earnings per share for 2008 in the range of $7.50 to $7.80, based on after-tax adjusted operating income.
