Apple among biggest gainers on the Eco 30: waiting for Fed´s decission

The Eco 30, the main stock index created by elEconomista that includes 30 worldwide companies with a market capitalization above 4 billion euros, was up on tuesday about 0,6 per cent to 1,060 points. Apple was among the biggest gainers after announcing the release of a new iPad with huge storage capacity.

Cupertino based Apple ended up around 1,88 per cent to 458 dollars a share. The new iPad, with a storage capacity of 128 GB, helped the company to heal some of last week´s lost share value, but fail short to impress analysts.

Other important components of the Eco 30, like netherland´s LyondellBassell, added 3,30 per cent value during Tuesday´s session. Also Rio Tinto was among the biggest gainers of the Eco 30 after rising more than 1,9 per cent to 35,7 dollars a share.

Here in the US, Dow and S&P 500 added 0,5 per cent after pharmaceutical companies like Pfizer and Elli Lilly reported earnings above expectations. Meanwhile, Ford Company disappointed investors. Of course Wall Street was cautious waiting to hear on Wednesday from Fed´s FOMC.

Also macroeconomic data was mixed. The housing price index S&P Case Shiller was up in November for 10th straight month in a seasonally adjusted basis. On the dark side, Consumer Confidence plummeted to November 2011 levels, after the expiring of the payroll tax at the beginning of the year and the uncertainty created by Washington about the debt ceiling.
