Wall Street gains at open after weeks of losses


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks opened higher on Monday after six weeks of declines for the S&P 500 left equities at more attractive levels.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 52.98 points, or 0.44 percent, at 12,004.89. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 5.56 points, or 0.44 percent, at 1,276.54. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 13.12 points, or 0.50 percent, at 2,656.85.
