Wall Street cuts losses to below 1 percent


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street pared losses in late afternoon on Tuesday, with indexes down less than 1 percent.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was down 97.63 points, or 0.81 percent, at 11,895.53. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 9.94 points, or 0.77 percent, at 1,286.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 25.13 points, or 0.93 percent, at 2,675.84.
