IBM lifts Dow after broker comments


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks pared losses and the Dow industrials turned positive on Wednesday, boosted by IBM after positive brokerage comments.

    The Dow Jones industrial average gained 11.47 points, or 0.09 percent, to 12,225.85. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index shed 1.35 points, or 0.10 percent, to 1,320.47. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 7.58 points, or 0.27 percent, to 2,758.19.
