Wall Street rises on M&A, retail sales

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stock indexes rose at the open on Monday after a pair of proposed multibillion dollar acquisitions and strong October retail sales offset a weak reading on New York manufacturing.

The Dow Jones industrial average added 32.77 points, or 0.29 percent, to 11,225.35. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index gained 4.49 points, or 0.37 percent, to 1,203.70. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 10.77 points, or 0.43 percent, to 2,528.98.
