Wall Street dips but best month since April 2009
The Dow Jones industrial average slipped 47.23 points, or 0.44 percent, to end unofficially at 10,788.05. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index eased 3.53 points, or 0.31 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,141.20. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 7.94 points, or 0.33 percent, to close unofficially at 2,368.62.
For September, the Dow was up 7.7 percent, while the S&P 500 was up 8.8 percent and the Nasdaq was up 12 percent.
For the third quarter, which also ended with Thursday's close, the Dow was up 10.4 percent, while the S&P 500 was up 10.7 percent and the Nasdaq was up 12.3 percent. (Reporting by Leah Schnurr; Editing by Jan Paschal)
