Wall St ends higher, posts gains for week



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Nasdaq ended higher on Friday after reassuring earnings and an upbeat outlook from Oracle, while the broader market was up just slightly.

    The traditional trading volatility expected by the expiration of options failed to materialize.

    Based on the latest available data, the Dow Jones industrial average rose 13.02 points, or 0.12 percent, to end unofficially at 10,607.85. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index inched up just 0.93 of a point, or 0.08 percent, to finish unofficially at 1,125.59. The Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 12.36 points, or 0.54 percent, to close unofficially at 2,315.61.

    For the week, the Dow unofficially ended up 1.4 percent, the S&P 500 was up 1.5 percent and the Nasdaq was up 3.3 percent.
