Wall Street gains ground on consumer shares

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks regained some ground on Wednesday as advancing consumer shares helped push the S&P 500 into positive territory.

    * Trading was little changed as gains were kept in check by weak energy shares as the price of oil fell more than 1 percent.

    * The Dow Jones industrial average was off 6.20 points, or 0.06 percent, to 10,399.65. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index edged up 0.54 point, or 0.05 percent, at 1,093.08. The Nasdaq Composite Index gained 7.88 points, or 0.36 percent, to 2,217.32.
