Wall Street opens higher after jobless claims



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Wall Street rose at the open on Thursday on strong earnings from companies including Exxon Mobil and after a drop in weekly jobless claims offered hope for the anemic labor market recovery.

    The Dow Jones industrial average gained 68.95 points, or 0.66 percent, to 10,566.83. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 7.68 points, or 0.69 percent, to 1,113.81. The Nasdaq Composite Index added 16.66 points, or 0.74 percent, to 2,281.22.
