Indexes drop 1 percent in late trading


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow, S&P 500 and Nasdaq all fell more than 1 percent late on Wednesday, with technology shares among the top decliners.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was down 88.87 points, or 0.90 percent, at 9,781.43. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 9.44 points, or 0.91 percent, at 1,031.80. The Nasdaq Composite Index was down 23.89 points, or 1.12 percent, at 2,111.29. The Dow and S&P 500 briefly were down more than 1 percent.
