Dow turns higher; GE gains


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow industrial average turned positive in mid-day trading on Tuesday, helped by General Electric Co , which reports results later this week, and other big manufacturers, offsetting disappointing results from Alcoa Inc .

    The Dow was up 6.35 points, or 0.06 percent, at 11,012.32. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 2.27 points, or 0.19 percent, at 1,194.21. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 1.80 points, or 0.07 percent, at 2,456.07.
