Stocks briefly pare gains after Fed decision


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks briefly cut gains on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve decided to leave interest rates unchanged.

    The Dow Jones industrial average was up 85.77 points, or 0.88 percent, at 9,857.68. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was up 7.76 points, or 0.74 percent, at 1,053.17. The Nasdaq Composite Index was up 9.53 points, or 0.46 percent, at 2,066.85.
