Wall Street gains ground after housing data



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - Stocks recovered earlier losses on Wednesday to trade little changed after data showed sales of new single-family homes rose more than expected in July.

    The Dow Jones industrial average added 4.46 points, or 0.05 percent, to 9,543.75. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index put on 0.18 points, or 0.02 percent, to 1,028.18. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 3.97 points, or 0.20 percent, to 2,028.20.*
