Wall St opens lower on profit taking

NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks opened lower on Friday as investors took some profits after stocks gained more than 2 percent in the previous session, and as a jump in the rate of savings pointed to a more cautious consumer.

The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 44.22 points, or 0.52 percent, to 8,428.18. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index fell 4.21 points, or 0.46 percent, to 916.05. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 9.84 points, or 0.54 percent, to 1,819.70.
