Spanish PM Rajoy says wants to lead party if fresh elections are held


    MADRID (Reuters) - Spain's acting Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy said on Tuesday he would want to be candidate for leader of his People's Party (PP) if fresh elections were held after the inconclusive outcome of this month's ballot.

    Rajoy told a news conference the best outcome for Spain now would be a government led by the PP, which came first in the elections with 123 seats, with broad support from parties that could agree on issues such as Spanish unity.

    Rajoy also said the Spanish economy would grow by 3.2 percent in 2015, in contrast to his government's previous forecast of 3.3 percent.
