Argentina says to meet again with debt mediator on Friday

BUENOS AIRES (Reuters) - Representatives of Argentina will meet again on Friday with a mediator appointed by a U.S. court to resolve its legal battle with hedge funds suing for full repayment of $1.3 billion in defaulted sovereign bonds, a government official said on Tuesday.

In comments to reporters, cabinet chief Jorge Capitanich did not mention whom from the government would represent Argentina in Friday's meeting or whether the "holdout" funds would participate.

Economy Minister Axel Kicillof spent four hours hashing through the case in New York on Monday with the special master, Daniel Pollack, who was appointed by U.S. District Judge Thomas Griesa to find common ground in the years-long dispute.

"It was agreed to continue this meeting on Friday," Capitanich said. "It has been an intense dialogue."
