They said Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) rebels carried out the attack, which occurred outside a police shooting range in the province of Van, on the border with Iran. The wounded police were not reported to be in a serious condition.
No further details were immediately available.
The explosion coincided with street clashes in the southeastern city of Diyarbakir between Turkish police and Kurdish protesters seeking to take part in a rally outlawed by state authorities.
