Israeli forces kill 3 militants in Gaza


    GAZA (Reuters) - Israeli forces killed three Palestinian militants and a civilian during fighting in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip on Sunday, medical workers said.

    Six other gunmen and a civilian were wounded as Israelitroops backed by aircraft clashed with militant groups in thesouthern Gaza town of Rafah, the medical workers said.

    An Israeli army spokeswoman said forces operating in thesouthern Gaza Strip had shot several gunmen.

    Israel frequently carries out air strikes and ground raidsagainst militants in the coastal enclave, in what it says is aneffort to stop militants firing rockets into southern Israelitowns.
