Wall Street adds gains after Fed



    NEW YORK (Reuters) - The Dow and S&P 500 slightly added to gains on Wednesday after the Federal Reserve renewed a promise to keep interest rates low for an "extended period" and sounded more upbeat on the economic recovery and jobs.

    The Dow Jones industrial average gained 45.72 points, or 0.42 percent, to 11,037.71. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index rose 6.25 points, or 0.53 percent, to 1,189.96. The Nasdaq Composite Index shed 1.60 points, or 0.06 percent, to 2,469.87.
