Bomb wounds three in north Lebanon

TRIPOLI, Lebanon (Reuters) - A small bomb in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli wounded three people on Thursday, including a boy who sustained serious injuries, residents and local officials said.

The blast struck in Tripoli's Jabal Mohsen district, home to the predominantly Sunni Muslim city's Alawite minority. It went off near the house of Rifat Ali Eid, a leading Alawite politician. The army deployed in the area.

More than 20 people were killed in Tripoli last year in sectarian fighting between Alawites in Jabal Mohsen and the neighbouring Sunni district of Bab Tibbaneh.

The fighting, which lasted four months, was halted by a reconciliation agreement signed in September.
