There has been a spate of bombings in Shi'ite areas in Iraq in the last few weeks, raising fears of a resurgence of sectarian violence, which has only abated in the last 18 months.
In the worst attack on Monday, two truck bombs exploded within minutes of each other in the mostly Shi'ite village of al-Khazna, east of the restive northern city of Mosul, killing 30 people and wounding 155.
Last week, a string of bombings targeting Shi'ites across Iraq killed 44 people. The bombings have often been blamed on Sunni Islamist militants and al Qaeda.
