Wall St trims losses after home sales data


    NEW YORK (Reuters) - U.S. stocks trimmed losses and the Dow Jones industrial average turned positive on Tuesday after data showed pending sales of previously owned homes rose at a faster-than-expected pace in June.

    * The Dow index gained 12.40 points, or 0.13 percent, to 9,298.96. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index lost 1.18 points, or 0.12 percent, to 1,001.45. The Nasdaq Composite Index was off 5.78 points, or 0.29 percent, to 2,002.83.
