3 Killed, 7 missing in attack on wedding caravan in southern Mexico
The victims were heading to a wedding in La Palma on Saturday when they were attacked as they drove through the community of El Salitre, the Guerrero Public Safety Secretariat said in a statement.
State police found two bodies with gunshot wounds and 15 abandoned vehicles - two of them burned - at the scene of the attack, the secretariat said.
Security forces members deployed in Las Parotas found a third bullet-riddled body early Sunday about 300 meters (328 yards) from the road.
Two of the victims - David Burgos Martinez, 20, and Lot Bahena Rojas, no age given - have been identified, the secretariat said.
Relatives went to the prosecutor's office and reported seven men missing who were taken away by the assailants.
Army troops and state police are patrolling the area in an effort to find the missing men.
"The authorities with jurisdiction (in the case) started an investigation to clear up the attack," the secretariat said.
Arcelia is in the Tierra Caliente, a region straddling Michoacan, Guerrero and Mexico states that has been the scene of fighting among rival drug cartels.
