Iraq suicide bomb toll up to 22 dead

BAGHDAD (Reuters) - The death toll in a suicide attack at a revered Shi'ite shrine in northwestern Baghdad on Sunday rose to 22 dead and 40 wounded, a source in the Iraqi army said.

The blast occurred at a checkpoint outside the Imam Moussa shrine in Kadhimiya, a mainly Shi'ite area of Baghdad, as Iraqi Shi'ites prepared for the Ashura holiday later this week which marks the death of Hussein, the grandson of the Prophet Mohammad.
