Egypt train crash kills 37 and injures 38


    CAIRO (Reuters) - Thirty-seven Egyptians were killed and 38 injured when a train collided with three vehicles in northern Egypt on Wednesday, security sources said.

    Security sources said the crash occurred after a truck wasin collision with a car and bus waiting at a railroad crossing,forcing the vehicles onto the tracks.

    The train ploughed into the three vehicles seconds later,they added.

    The force of the impact unhitched three of the train'scarriages and flipped another two over, a security sourceadded.

    A state-run satellite news channel confirmed the deathtoll.

    Reckless driving, lax traffic rules and poor roadconditions cause many road crashes in Egypt. A series of roadand rail accidents over the past few years triggered a publicoutcry over the government's handling of road and transportsafety.
