Greek police clash with protesters in Athens
The clashes erupted after a march in solidarity with a jailed self-proclaimed anarchist, who went on hunger strike last month to demand he be allowed to attend university classes. Nikos Romanos, 21, was sentenced to prison for robbery in October and has been hospitalised since going on hunger strike.
About 6,000 protesters took part in the march held on the anniversary of the 2008 police killing of a teenager that led to the country's worst riots in years. Shops and bank ATMs were damaged during the violence.
