Tropical storm Trudy moves inland from Mexico's Pacific coast


    MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Tropical storm Trudy made landfall on Mexico's southern Pacific coast on Saturday, where it was expected to cause flash floods and mudslides before dissipating by Sunday, the U.S. National Hurricane Center said in a statement.

    The storm, which was heading north at about 5 miles (7 km) per hour, was around 75 miles (120 km) north east from the beach resort of Acapulco, with sustained winds of about 45 mph (75 km/h).

    Trudy is expected to dump 6 to 12 inches (15-30 cm) of rain over the next few days on the southern states of Guerrero and Oaxaca, where storm warnings are in effect.
