Joint French-U.N. military camp hit by rockets in northern Mali - U.N.


    BAMAKO (Reuters) - A joint French and United Nations military camp in the northern Malian town of Kidal was hit by at least six rockets on Tuesday, the U.N. mission said.

    Olivier Salgado, spokesman for the U.N. peacekeeping mission, said between six and eight rockets had landed in the camp but it was too early to give details on any casualties.

    It was not immediately clear who was responsible for the attack but Islamist insurgents operating in Mali's north have stepped up attacks on foreign forces in recent weeks.
