CORRECTED-At least 100 killed in Nigeria oil pipeline fire
LAGOS, May 15 (Reuters) - At least 100 people were killedand scores injured when fuel from a pipeline ruptured by anearthmover building a road on the outskirts of Lagos caughtfire, the Red Cross said on Thursday.
"About 100 people have so far been confirmed dead from thefire. We have so far rescued more than 20 people with injuriesand taken them to hospital for treatment," one Red Crossofficial at the scene of the fire told Reuters.
He said volunteers were trying to rescue people stilltrapped in their burning homes. Most of the deaths and injuriesresulted from a stampede caused by the fire.
