Czech opposition plans no-confidence vote over FinMin affair

PRAGUE (Reuters) - The Czech centre-left opposition Social Democrats said on Friday they would call a vote of no confidence in the government following accusations that the country's finance minister put pressure on investigators of an army procurement deal.

"Given that the prime minister did not react to calls... for the dismissal of the finance minister, the Social Democrat deputies' club agreed to initiate a vote of no confidence in the entire cabinet," Social Democrat chief Bohuslav Sobotka said.

The Social Democrats have been demanding that Finance Minister Miroslav Kalousek quits over accusations by the police president that he had made improper comments to him related to police investigation of an army deal in which Kalousek's party colleague has been charged. Kalousek has denied any wrongdoing.
