Indonesia issues tsunami alert after powerful quake



    JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia issued a tsunami warning after a powerful earthquake struck in the Maluku area in the eastern part of the country, the country's meteorology agency said on Saturday.

    The quake measured magnitude 7.3 and the epicentre was located 209 km (129.9 miles) north west of Saumlaki at a depth of 165 km.

    The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake struck at 11:40 p.m. local time (3:40 p.m. British time).
