Obama sets new efficiency standards for lighting


    WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama's administration on Monday laid out new efficiency standards for fluorescent and incandescent lighting, an official said.

    The new standards, which will come into effect in 2012, would save up to 594 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions through 2042, the official said.
