WiMAX Forum Certified Training Program TM to Expand Offerings at WiMAX Forum® Congress Series of Events
The WiMAX Forum today announced an expansion of the WiMAX Forum Certified Training program to include a new training partner, increased course offerings, and the 2009 schedule of courses. Many of the new course offerings are expected to debut at the WiMAX Forum Congress Series in 2009.
The new WiMAX Forum Network Associate Boot Camp course adds to the suite of technical boot camp courses which provide the necessary skills to design and deploy WiMAX networks. The four day Network Associate Boot Camp leads WiMAX engineers and technicians through a series of installation, configuration and field–test exercises.
This new course is comprised of 70% hands–on lab activity and 30% tutorial content, assuring that students master the fundamental skills of network deployment. For the hands–on lab sessions, training partner DoceoTech maintains a vendor–neutral WiMAX lab employing Aperto and Telsima base stations and fixed subscriber stations as samples of WiMAX Forum Certified TM equipment as well as Anritsu multifunction field–test sets. Additionally, students are required to complete a mobile WiMAX drive–test exercise that uses 802.16e drive test data and the WirelessLogix 802.16e drive test software tool.
"The WiMAX Forum Network Associate Boot Camp prepares field engineers for deploying 802.16e WiMAX networks in the best way possible," says John Swart, President of DoceoTech. "Technical personnel who start with WiMAX Forum Certified Training will gain skills that are applicable to a variety of vendor´s equipment, and prepare them for detailed training on specific networks."
In addition, AT4 wireless, the WiMAX Forum lead lab for product certification, will also partner with the WiMAX Forum to create a series of courses on certification. The WiMAX TM Certification Process Overview course will ensure that the complexities of the certification process are more clearly understood through an in–depth examination of the Certification Program Reference Manual (CPRM) as well as discussion on WiMAX Forum Certification Project Management, Certification Requirements and Test Specifications documents, and an overview of Certification Testing.
"Developed based on our deep experience with WiMAX Forum Certification, AT4 wireless´ courses will offer the industry´s only WiMAX Forum Certified Training focusing on certification," said Fernando E. Hardasmal, Deputy General Manager of AT4 wireless. "These courses will be designed to equip industry professionals with a deeper understanding of the certification process from the WiMAX Forum for Fixed and Mobile WiMAX TM, including all the required steps to certify a WiMAX base station or subscriber station and re–certification policies for WiMAX Forum Certified products."
In addition to the new courses offered through partners DoceoTech and AT4 wireless, WiMAX Forum Certified Training courses will be offered by partner Informa Telecoms Academy alongside the WiMAX Forum Congress Latin America in December, including:
- WiMAX Explained – This two–day course introduces both technical and non–technical aspects of WiMAX to enable the delegate to fully understand how it fits into the future of BWA communications.
- WiMAX Forum RF Network Engineer Certification Boot Camp – This four–day course is designed for engineers who have some RF background, to develop their RF engineering skills, specifically for WiMAX network design. The boot camp covers all of the necessary topics to prepare a technical student to take the WiMAX Forum RF Network Engineer TM certification exam.
